Dan Trew - Chair
Why did you choose to become involved with Friends of Rothrock?
I have spent my life enjoying every brook and tree all over Rothrock; backpacking up and down the ridges, exploring the mysterious valleys, camping among the exceptional trees, spotting unique wildlife in the natural areas, and collecting my weight in berries. I firmly believe that what we have in our backyards is truly special and is what makes our community so great. When I heard that a friends group was being formed around this wonderful place I naturally wanted to become part of a group giving back to the place that had given me so much throughout the years.
How do you support FOR?
I am the chair of the friends group, and I take that role in service to the forest in the hope that we can create amazing opportunities to give back to everything it has done for us. I really look forward to helping facilitate all the work our exceptional board can do and find ways to make connections between our organization and the community. As the chair of the executive committee, I hope to connect with other groups doing work in and around the forest and to ensure the group operates within its charter. Lastly, I coordinate cooperation between all the committees and represent the board at meetings and conferences.
What other things would FOR Members be interested in knowing about you?
I have an aerospace engineering degree, but would rather spend my time walking around the woods than frowning at a computer screen.
